ALL4, Inc. has been selected to partner with MI2 to support the goals of our metals company membership by leading a study of clean energy supply in Kentucky, following an extensive RFI and RFP process.
MI2 and ALL4 previously have collaborated through a common association with GAME Change Engine, an organization focused on advancing circular economy manufacturing technologies for Kentucky and Tennessee. ALL4 is an environmental and sustainability consulting firm with a global presence and a local focus, with offices in Lexington and Louisville. Together, MI2 and ALL4 will create a framework for increasing the supply of clean energy available to Kentucky metals manufacturers by 10% over the next five years.
"We're thrilled to collaborate with ALL4, Inc. on this critical initiative. The transition to clean energy is not just an environmental effort; it's a strategic imperative for Kentucky's metals industry," said Summer Goldman, MI2's Chief Operating Officer. "By leveraging ALL4’s expertise and our shared vision, we aim to drive significant advancements in clean energy supply, ensuring that Kentucky remains at the forefront of innovation and sustainability in metals manufacturing."
Daryl Whitt, a Certified Energy Manager and Technical Director for ALL4’s ESG & Sustainability Practice, expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
“There is a great opportunity in Kentucky to spur economic growth and create competitive advantage for the metals industry by transitioning to clean energy sources," Whitt said. "Historically, in the United States, metals manufacturing thrived where energy was inexpensive and plentiful. We can maintain this model through the energy transition by proactively developing clean energy sources and driving innovation.”
MI2's Metals Leadership Council identified increasing the supply of clean energy as a Kentucky metals industry-wide challenge that requires open, pre-competitive, collaborative, de-risked innovation.
The framework coming out of this initiative will include an overview of the current clean energy sources, an analysis of relevant clean energy plans across other markets, a look at market drivers and useful industrial policies, and identification of market obstacles. ALL4 will provide findings and recommendations to the MI2 board and our member companies.
The project kicked off in August and will conclude by the end of 2024.
