MI2 a Clear Signal of Kentucky's Innovative Metals Leadership
By: Monique Kuykendoll Quarterman, Executive Director, KY Innovation

Primary and fabricated metals collectively represent one of Kentucky’s most thriving and substantial industries, with 230 facilities across the commonwealth employing more than 30,000 Kentuckians.
The industry’s – and Mi2’s – potential impact on extending Kentucky’s leadership for generations is remarkable.
Gov. Andy Beshear recognized that supporting an industry-led, statewide initiative focused on the future will only further strengthen and grow opportunities across Kentucky.
By addressing critical areas like workforce, sustainability, and fostering innovation by connecting to the state’s flourishing entrepreneurial ecosystem, Mi2 clearly signifies Kentucky’s innovative leadership in this industry.
It also positions Kentucky for significant growth and innovation in the many other industries that are fundamentally linked with metals, from automotive to food and beverage.
We are proud to support the efforts of Mi2’s founding membership and applaud the vision and leadership of the many established metals companies that have joined forces to make this organization a reality. They represent some of the industry’s preeminent corporations that are already helping Team Kentucky create the jobs of the future and compete and win on a global scale.
