We are excited to have Gov. Andy Beshear, Secretary of State Michael Adams, and Cabinet for Economic Development Secretary Jeff Noel join us, as well as a wide range of manufacturing industry leaders and subject matter experts.

As an example of a few sessions that might especially be of interest to MI2 members and partners, here a few callouts:

Day 1:

  • The MI2 Innovation Competition will feature four finalists who pitch their projects to a panel of metals industry executives. This competition showcases cutting-edge innovations that are shaping the future of the manufacturing sector.
  • MI2 members Logan Aluminum and Kentucky Thermal Institute will talk about some pilot projects we have conducted within MI2 over the past year, while our partners at ALL4 will share a bit about a clean energy project they are working on with MI2 at the moment and our partners at University of Louisville will talk about their REBECCA Technology Hub program.
  • MI2 will lead a session highlighting contemporary issues in the metals industry with a few of our member companies.

Day 2

  • Multiple metals executives will join a manufacturing industry-wide industry executives roundtable to kick off the day.
  • Local community leaders will share their thinking and work for the KY-WORCS pilot program MI2 has been developing, with the potential of establishing satellite offices for manufacturers outside the primary facility and located in the Eastern and Western coalfield regions.
  • Multiple MI2 members will share insights about the state of metals recycling in the region and nationally.
  • MI2 leadership will share insights about MI2's unique design and what a cross-stakeholder innovation ecosystem means.

The agenda also includes an exciting presentation from Dr. Ben Armstrong with the MIT Industrial Performance Center, who will talk about "work of the future," provoking discussions on equipping workers with the skills needed for success in a rapidly changing industry landscape.

The conference will conclude with the Industry Awards Luncheon, where we’ll recognize outstanding employers and employees for their significant contributions to the industry.
