MI2's Grants and Funding KYIC Panel and November's Webinar Recap

In case you missed it, Ruthie Caldwell, MI2 Grants and Funding Consultant, led a panel discussion at the Kentucky Industry Conference. The discussion surrounded the topic of grants and funding and contemporary industry issues. The panel included Ruthie as well as Art Samberg with the US Department of Energy Southeast Onsite Energy Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) and Hunter Voegele with Ankura. On November 12, MI2 hosted a webinar, “Cleaner & Better: Helping KY Manufacturers Reduce Energy Use and Increase Clean Energy,” to address the rising energy expenses and sustainability challenges facing Kentucky manufacturers. This one-hour session provided attendees with actionable strategies to reduce energy costs and transition to cleaner energy solutions.

The event featured practical insights tailored to manufacturers seeking to trim energy budgets while progressing toward sustainability goals. Attendees left equipped with valuable tools and knowledge to make impactful changes in their operations.

What They Heard:

• Assessing Your Plant’s Energy Use: Dr. Mark McGinley from the University of Louisville Industrial Assessment Center shared guidance on evaluating facility energy consumption and answered participant questions.
• Exploring Clean Onsite Energy Solutions: Isaac Panzarella from the Southeast Onsite Energy Technical Assistance Partnership at the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center discussed clean energy options and fielded questions from the audience.
• Funding Your Energy Initiatives: Ruthie Caldwell, MI2’s Grants & Funding Consultant, outlined funding avenues available to support energy initiatives.
