Last week, MI2 hosted a webinar aimed at helping metals companies secure funding for clean energy solutions. Held on June 27th, this event brought together industry experts to guide businesses through the complex landscape of grants and funding opportunities in the clean energy sector.
The webinar featured Ruthie Caldwell, MI2’s Grants & Funding Consultant, who provided a comprehensive overview of various clean energy grants and funding opportunities. Ruthie shared her experience in securing funding for ambitious and innovative projects and introduced several funding databases crucial for businesses looking to tap into clean energy resources.

Dr. Peter Therkelsen, a Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, elaborated on the 50001 Ready program. He discussed the process of becoming part of this cohort and the benefits it offers MI2 members. Dr. Therkelsen’s expertise in energy management practices provided attendees with valuable insights into aligning their companies with the 50001 Ready program to enhance their energy management and decarbonization goals.

Cassie Coravos, Engagement Director at EFN, highlighted EFN’s role as "Power Connectors" in the recent American-Made Challenge Community Energy Innovation Prize by the US Department of Energy, for which MI2 was awarded a CONCEPT prize. She detailed the Empower Innovation funding database, a free resource developed by EFN to help businesses find suitable funding opportunities. Additionally, Tom Jensen, Founder and Executive Director of EFN, shared his a little of his experience in advising and mentoring technology startups, focusing on the energy and software sectors.
The webinar offered an opportunity for attendees to talk with experts and professionals who possess in-depth knowledge and experience in clean energy funding, addressing doubts about potential avenues for funding and highlighting new opportunities to seek.
