On the Horizon

The Metals Innovation Initiative heads into May with a range of projects and initiatives in full deployment. Here is a look at a few things happening around MI2 this month:

• Our Branding Strategy Group will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, May 9th, to discuss ongoing initiatives like the Kentucky Metals Industry Guide in partnership with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and related initiatives to collect and tell cohesive stories about the Kentucky metals innovation ecosystem.
• MI2 will be participating in the Eastern Kentucky University Manufacturing Engineering Industry Advisory Board on Thursday, May 11th.
• MI2 and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce will be holding their next Bus to Business pilot project between MI2 member company Logan Aluminum and local schools on Friday, May 12th.
• Our Grants and Funding Strategy Group will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, May 17th, to discuss new funding opportunities coming up in the calendar and how it matches with priority areas for Kentucky’s metals innovation ecosystem.
• Our Talent and Workforce Strategy Group will hold its next meeting on Thursday, May 18th, to discuss our current talent development and attraction projects with Temple University’s Fox Management Consulting and the University of Louisville, the Bus to Business pilot program in partnership with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, and other initiatives.
• Our Sustainability Strategy Group will hold its next meeting on Thursday, May 18th, to discuss the group’s priority projects, as highlighted in group leader Andy Ishmael’s piece in this month’s newsletter.
• MI2 will host its next in-person board meeting on Tuesday, May 30th, with plans for a plant tour currently being developed alongside the board meeting.
