MI2 is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Eviston as the new Chairman of the Board, and we want to extend our gratitude to Louisville Business First and The Lane Report for highlighting our new Board Chair.

Eviston brings over three decades of industry experience and a deep commitment to innovation and sustainability in metals manufacturing.

Bob Eviston currently serves as Vice President and General Manager with Nucor Steel, overseeing operations at River Metals Recycling (RMR), Kentucky's largest scrap recycler of ferrous and nonferrous materials. He began his career at The David J. Joseph Company (a Nucor company since 2008) in 1992 as a Brokerage Representative in Pittsburgh. Over the years, he has held various leadership positions, including District Manager of the Cincinnati trading office; Vice President, Commercial, for River Metals Recycling; and General Manager for the Rockledge and Orlando regions for Trademark Metals Recycling. He took his current position at River Metals Recycling in 2013.

A founding member of MI2’s Metals Leadership Council in September 2022 and an MI2 board member since March 2023, Eviston has been instrumental in shaping the organization's marketing and branding strategies. He led MI2’s focus on telling the story of Kentucky’s metals industry during MI2's inaugural year, significantly shaping MI2’s focus and direction with initiatives such as the Metals Industry Guide produced in partnership with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, MI2’s partnership with the University of Louisville College of Business’ marketing department, and the storytelling strategy behind our 2023 MI2 Factory of the Future conference.

This past year, Eviston also took part in a “State of Metals Recycling” session at the inaugural Kentucky Industry Conference and represented MI2 in interviewing Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear in one of the conference’s featured sessions.

"Bob's extensive experience and unwavering dedication to the metals industry make him an exceptional choice for Chairman,” said MI2 CEO, Mike Buckentin. “His visionary leadership has been pivotal in MI2's growth, and I am confident that under his guidance, we will continue to drive innovation and excellence in Kentucky's metals sector."

"It is an honor to serve as Chairman of the Board. Since its inception, MI2 has worked to position Kentucky as a leader in metals innovation, and I am excited to continue building on that foundation,” Eviston said. “By fostering collaboration, advancing sustainable practices, and supporting workforce development, we can create even greater opportunities for our industry and our state."

MI2 is committed to positioning Kentucky as a leader in metals innovation by fostering collaboration, promoting sustainability, and advancing talent development. With Eviston at the helm, MI2 is poised to further its mission and strengthen the state's position in the global metals industry.
